If you love Procreate and love fonts, then adding in your own custom fonts is a must! Adding in extra fonts gives you freedom to create in ways you’ve not had before. Installing additional fonts is simple, and you don’t need a computer to do it. Today we are going to walk through how to install fonts on your iPad to use with Procreate.
Step 1: Download & Install Your Font
First, download the font you want to use. You can get free or paid fonts from trusted websites like Dottie Digitals, Creative Fabrica, DaFont, or Google Fonts.
If the font comes as a .zip file, just tap it in the Files app to unzip.
You should now see your .otf or .ttf font file inside.
Download a font installer like iFont and install the font to your device.

Step 2: Open Procreate and Add Text
Open a canvas in Procreate.
Tap the Actions menu (wrench icon in the top left).
Select Add > Add Text.
A text box will appear—tap to edit it.
You’ll now see the text editing bar at the bottom of your screen.
Step 3: Import Your Font
Tap Edit Style on the text bar.
In the font panel, tap Import (top right corner).
This opens your Files app—navigate to where your font file is saved.
Tap the font file to import it into Procreate.
That’s it! The font will now appear in your font list under “Imported Fonts.”
FAQ
Can I use any font in Procreate?
Yes—as long as it’s a valid .OTF or .TTF file, you can import and use it in Procreate.
Do I need a special app to unzip font files?
No. If you’re using iPadOS 13 or later, the built-in Files app can unzip files by simply tapping on them. You will need a font installer app, which you can download for free if you use iFont.
Can I install multiple fonts at once?
Procreate only supports importing one font at a time. You may be able to bulk install fonts to your iPad using the installer, but you won’t be able to bulk import them to Procreate.
