How to install fonts in Windows
If you’ve seen amazing fonts online and want to start using them straight away, this quick guide will teach you how to install fonts on your Windows device fast. Installing a TTF (TrueType Font) or OTF (OpenType Font) on your Windows PC can be done in just a few simple steps:
- Download your font. All our fonts will be available in your account for future access if purchased from Dottiedigitals.com. Usually, when you download your files, they will appear in your ‘Downloads’ folder.
- Unzip the folder. This is exactly the same process as any of our other files. Right click, then press Extract. For a step-by-step guide on how to unzip a folder [click here]. (LINK)
- Open the folder, and you should see either the .OTF or the .TTF files. Right click on the OTF file and press Install. We recommend installing the OTF over the TTF if it’s available. Some versions of Windows may bring up a preview box of the font, which will have an Install button at the top.
- Restart your software. Once you have installed the font, make sure to close down any software you are currently using and restart them. If this step is skipped, you won’t be able to use your font until the next time you open the application.
And that’s all the steps to installing a font on your Windows PC. Some software may prefer you to use a .TTF file, but we always recommend using the .OTF to run into fewer problems along the way.
